Cubic Transportation Systems Ltd. recently obtained a $21.8 million contract to design and implement a new smart card fare-collection system for Sweden’s Skanetrafiken.
Designed to provide seamless connections between rail and bus service in Skane, the system will enable passengers to add value to smart cards via the Internet.
To be managed by Cubic’s Nordic Division, the project includes providing operating software, ticket vending machines and station validators. Cubic also will install its Nextfare™ Central System for Skanetrafiken’s back office and computing system.
