CSX Corp. subsidiary TRANSFLO Corp. Jan. 29 assumed from CSX Transportation a family of rail-logistic services, including METALNET, TRANSMODE, and other box-car and lumber services.
METALNET is a flexible multi-modal transportation and distribution network designed to deliver truck-competitive single-factor rates for North American door-to-door metal-product moves.
Controlling more than 100 transload and warehouse facilities, METALNET last year handled more than 40,000 carloads, including all types of ferrous and non-ferrous products.
CSX named Kevin Goins, former CSXT national accounts manager-metals, METALNET manager.
CSX also named Tom Helock, former CSXT senior manager-warehouse marketing and logistics, TRANSMODE manager.
TRANSMODE is a comprehensive multi-modal logistics network designed to offer individualized supply-chain solutions to the pulp and paper, lumber, and packaged consumer-goods industries.
With more than 250 rail-served distribution centers annually handling more than 3.5 million tons of products, TRANSMODE provides customized options and value-added services, such as crossdock, and supply-chain and distribution management.
Meanwhile, TRANSFLO also plans to develop new logistics services tailored to customers who need to extend rail services.
CSX named Tom Eilers, former CSX Lines director-retail and consumer products, director-TRANSFLO logistics services.
