The Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) recently enhanced its New and Untried Car Analytic Regime Simulation (NUCARS®) tool.
The center now offers wheel/rail penetration contact and multi-body track models to all licensed NUCARS® users. Other new features include wheel/rail animation, a track geometry preprocessor and improved friction wedge models.
The wheel/rail contact penetration model is designed to reduce unstable wheel/rail force contact calculations and provide a realistic representation of conditions leading to rolling contact fatigue and wear, TTCI said. The multi-body track model offers a more accurate representation of track structure as a multi-body system.
