The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to improve 34 grade crossings in five southeastern counties.
To begin in late March and conclude in summer, the $1 million project calls for removing and repairing asphalt transitions to tracks, and completing some concrete repairs. TxDOT has hired APAC-Texas as the project’s contractor.
Meanwhile, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will conduct an informational workshop on March 15 at West Craven High School regarding the proposed closure of a crossing on Brick Kiln Road near Vanceboro.
NCDOT plans to close the crossing as part of a statewide effort to reduce the number of redundant crossings and/or those with a high accident rate.
