Texas Rail Advocates name speakers for South Central high-speed corridor conference

On Jan. 27, 2006, Texas Rail Advocates will host the second annual South Central High Speed Rail Corridor conference, "High Performance Rail: Interstate II for the 21st Century."
The proposed corridor would operate between Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Invited speakers will include:
• Amtrak Chairman David Laney, who will discuss Amtrak’s role in corridor development;
• North Carolina Deputy Secretary of Transportation David King, who will address the successful relationship between North Carolina and major railroads that comprise the South East High Speed Rail Corridor; and
• BNSF Railway Co. Assistant Vice President of Passenger Services DJ Mitchell, who will discuss the successful integration of freight and passenger service along the Cascade Corridor in the Pacific Northwest.
