On Nov. 17, city of Levelland, Texas, and local economic development agency officials plan to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open an $8.6 million industrial rail park.

Railroad Specialties Inc. recently completed the rail portion of the 240-acre park by installing more than 21,000 track feet of 132-pound rail and concrete ties. The rail portion received $3.3 million in federal stimulus funding and $1.5 million in local economic development dollars.

The industrial rail park is located along a West Texas & Lubbock Railway line, which connects with a BNSF Railway Co. mainline in Lubbock, Texas.

City officials expect the park to create 1,000 jobs and generate $100 million in new capital investment during the next 10 years.
