The Timken Co. continues to feature the World Wide Web in its customer-focus strategy development.

The engineered-bearings manufacturer Jan. 7 unveiled a Canadian enhancement to its Timken Store(SM) at PTplace.com. By adding Canadian dollars capability, Timken’s authorized Canadian distributors can "conduct business with the U.S. in a very efficient manner, 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Dan Muller, vice president-distribution management, in a prepared statement.

A year ago, Timken joined INA Holding Schaeffler KG, Rockwell Automation and The SKF Group to create a "premium brand alliance" to provide Web-based services and integrated logistics for its industrial bearings and related products. In May 2001, the company launched the Timken Store on PTplace.com, serving authorized Timken distributors in the United States. In October, the company launched Timken-branded products and services on Endorsia.com Last month, Timken launched Trading-Block(SM), an online inventory management tool enabling all Timken authorized U.S. industrial bearing distributors to buy and sell Timken bearings.
