Yesterday, the American Public Transportation Association announced winners of its 12th Annual Rail Rodeo at the association’s rail transit conference in Miami.
A competition designed to measure professional skills, the Rodeo includes exercises on train operation, and knowledge of safety regulations and train equipment, and right-of-way rules and procedures.
Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) won the Rail Transit Achievement award, which recognizes an operator and maintainer team with the highest score of all competing transit systems.
In the operators’ competition, Miami-Dade Transit took first place; Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon, second place; and Dallas Area Rapid Transit, third place.
In the maintainers’ competition, Denver RTD earned first place, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, second, and St. Louis Metro, third.
Sixteen North American transit agencies with 28 operators and 37 maintainers participated in the Rail Rodeo.
