Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Don’t call them the Trannys anymore. The Transportation Marketing & Communication Association (TMCA) recently renamed its annual marketing awards the TMCA Compass Awards.
To be presented during the TMCA Educational Conference in Keystone, Colo., on May 23, 2006, the more-than-half-century-old awards recognize marketing and communications achievements in the transportation and logistics industries, including accomplishments by railroads, transit agencies, trucking firms, ocean carriers and third-party logistics providers. TMCA also is adding a “Best of Show” category to honor the company with the highest overall score.
“The new name … represents the next evolution of our industry,” said Tom Nightingale, TMCA awards chairman and vice president of corporate marketing for Schneider National Inc., in a prepared statement. “As we celebrate the history of the Tranny awards and now ring in the Compass Awards, we usher in a new era and a new standard of excellence.”
