Transportation marketing association to hand out 2007 Compass Awards

After receiving a record-breaking 276 entries this year, the Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) is presenting 2007 Compass Awards to a fraction of those entrants. About 8 percent will receive awards of excellence and 27 percent, awards of merit.

To be presented June 5 at TMCA’s annual conference in St. Petersburg, Fla., the awards recognize North American transportation and logistics companies that create “innovative, results-oriented marketing and communications programs,” according to the association. Entries are judged by 20 teams, who use a six-point evaluation scale.

TMCA will hand out Compass awards to the following winners in 10 categories:

• Integrated Communications — ArvinMeritor, Inc., CaseStack, GO Transit, Horn & Stronach, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA), Western Star Trucks/Freightliner, Yellow Transportation, FedEx Freight, Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority, Celadon Trucking Services, CN/Equilibre/BCP, Con-way Inc., FedEx Trade Networks, Guardian Global Transport, Lynden, Maverick Transportation, MTA New York City Transit, Regional Transportation Commission, Roadway, Schneider National Inc., United Parcel Service, World Trade magazine, YRC Regional Transportation, Community Transit, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority.

• Single Advertisement — Agility, LM&O Advertising, Ryder, Alonso & Co. and Schneider National.

• Advertising — Bayard Advertising Agency, Celadon Trucking Services, Landstar System, LA MTA, Virginia Railway Express, the American Public Transportation Association, Bayard Advertising Agency, BQR Advertising and Public Relations, Inc., GATX Corp., GO Transit, O & S Trucking Inc. and the Virginia Port Authority.

• Direct Marketing Campaign — Community Transit, McLeod Software, FedEx Trade Networks, Ryder, Alonso & Co., San Mateo County Transit District, OCTA and Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon.

• Communications Collateral — Ryder, Transplace, Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority, Canadian National Railway Co., FedEx Freight, Freightliner Trucks, Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, Port of Long Beach, OCTA and the Virginia Port Authority.

• Publications — Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority, Averitt Express, Crowley, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Maryland Transit Administration, the Port of Long Beach and Roadway.

• New Media — Averitt Express, Celadon Trucking Services, Schneider National, Versant and Yellow Transportation.
