Last week, the Ministry of Transportation named U.S. Coast Guard Captain Manson Brown senior advisor.

He will serve as a direct contact between the ministry — which is responsible for managing the reconstruction and modernization of Iraq's transportation infrastructure — and the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA).

Brown most recently served as chief officer of the U.S. Coast Guard's Personnel Management Division. He previously served as acting deputy chief of staff for U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta and military assistant for the U.S. Department of Transportation.

"Captain Brown … will support the work of the CPA in these crucial days leading up to the June 30 transfer of sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government," said CPA Administrator and Ambassador L. Paul Bremer III in a prepared statement.
