Yesterday, the Port of Benton opened a $1.5 million transloading facility at the Richland's Horn Rapids Industrial Park in Richland, Wash.
The facility will be served by Tri-City & Olympia Railroad Co., which interchanges with BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad.
Henningsen Cold Storage Co. obtained a lease to operate the facility. Wine, produce and other food products can be trucked to the facility and stored in a temperature-controlled, 7,200-square-foot building, then loaded onto rail cars.
