TriMet names developer for Interstate MAX site

Earlier this week, Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) selected REACH Community Development to plan and execute a mixed-use development project near the Interstate MAX light-rail line.

TriMet used federal funds to purchase the site, which comprises a motel and vacant land. Funds became available when the 5.8-mile Interstate MAX light-rail line, which connects the Rose Quarter and Exposition Center, was completed under budget and ahead of schedule in May 2004.

The project scope and design -- the number of housing units and unit sizes, commercial components, height and style – will be developed in consultation with the community, TriMet said in a prepared statement. The development team is targeting September 2008 as the project completion date.
