Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) set a new ridership record last month, posting an average of 110,300 weekday trips — a 5.8 percent increase compared with May 2006.
Weekday ridership on the Yellow Line jumped 17.2 percent to 13,600 trips; Blue and Red line ridership increased a combined 4.3 percent. TriMet officials attribute the ridership boost to high fuel prices.
