Next week, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) will begin hosting a series of open houses to provide construction information on the I-205 light-rail project.

Scheduled to begin in February, the project calls for building a 6.5-mile, eight-station extension between Gateway Transit Center and Clackamas Town Center.

The project is part of the 8.3-mile I-205/Portland Mall MAX light-rail project, which also includes connecting Union Station and Portland State University. The extension is scheduled to be complete in September 2009.
