TriMet to redevelop Gateway Transit Center
advertisement
Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) is prepping for a proposed 80,000-square-foot medical office and parking garage at the Gateway/NE 99th Avenue Transit Center.
Construction could begin by spring 2005. Future phases might include residential and commercial space.
The redevelopment calls for a 480-space parking structure that would cut 140 parking spaces from the existing park-and-ride area. To compensate, TriMet recently added 170 spaces to the E. 122nd Avenue MAX Station park and ride.
The Portland Development Commission, Gateway Urban Renewal Program Advisory Committee and TriMet officials have been working for the past five years to redevelop the transit center. Once complete, the project is expected to enhance the station environment, increase ridership, and provide more options for area employees, passengers and residents.
