Two short lines tap Nordling as planning head

Red River Valley & Western Railroad Co. (RRV&W) and Twin Cities & Western Railroad Co. (TC&W) Sept. 24 named Mark Nordling vice president strategic planning.

Since 1998, Nordling served Canadian Pacific Railway as director of commercial development, U.S. He began his railroading career in 1966 as a day baggageman for Great Northern Railway, later joining Interstate Commerce Commission in 1974 as railroad service agent in Minneapolis.

Nordling also previously served Rock Island Railroad as assistant division superintendent; Continental Grain, regional transportation manager; Honeywell's Datanetwork Division, manager of market planning for transportation; Emons Marketing, railroad freight car leasing; Soo Line Railroad, director of equipment utilization; and DeLeuw Cather, rail operations and marketing consultant.

His responsibilities for 520-mile RRV&W and 229-mile TC&W include broadening the two short lines' markets.
