U.K.'s Great North Eastern Railway relies on software to increase returns on ticket revenue

Last January, the United Kingdom’s Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) began using Manugistics Group Inc.’s Rail Revenue Management software, which enables the railway to obtain greater returns from passenger ticket revenue, according to a recent press release.
Installed in GNER’s London Kings Cross and York offices, the software enables the railway to forecast passenger demand, and optimize seat availability and fare allocation across its network.
GNER strives to forecast the correct fare for each seat on each train to help increase customer satisfaction and achieve revenue targets. The software enables the agency to minimize the number of unsold seats and limit overbooking trains with passengers who have discounted tickets.
