The United Kingdom’s Network Rail recently awarded a contract to ImageMap Inc. to supply 15 Unattended Track Geometry Measurement Systems (UGMS).

Network Rail plans to install the UGMS Hybrid units on passenger trains traveling through London, Eurostar trains running on the new Channel Tunnel Rail Link and some cross-country trains.

The systems are expected to help the agency plan track maintenance, cut costs and respond immediately to rail fatigue.

ImageMap plans to deliver the UGMS units during the second quarter and install the units by year end.

Network Rail previously tested the systems on two Class 168 Chiltern trains.
