advertisement
Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway have expanded their joint "Blue Streak" intermodal container service to link Northern California with the U.S. Northeast.
The new service connects intermodal terminals in Lathrop and Oakland, Calif., to Harrisburg, Pa., and ERail in New Jersey. The Northern California-Northeast trains provide sixth-morning availability eastbound, five days per week, and fifth-morning availability westbound, seven days a week. The UP-NS interchange occurs in Chicago.
Launched in 2001, Blue Streak connects Los Angeles and southeastern states, as well as Los Angeles, Dallas and Memphis. Customers can select three Blue Streak service levels; the highest level, called the "SuperFlyer," offers guaranteed equipment availability and guaranteed on-time delivery.
