UP: Stepping up train speed through Texas town

advertisement

Beginning Oct. 28, Union Pacific Railroad plans to raise train speeds through Odessa, Texas, from 25 mph to 60 mph by increasing speed 5 mph each week until Dec. 9.

Track conditions had limited trains to 25 mph through Odessa, but UP recently improved the line, according to a prepared statement.

During the past year, UP similarly raised train speeds through several communities following crossing-signal and track modifications.
