On Jan. 22, CSX Corp. subsidiary TRANSFLO Terminal Services Inc. and Union Pacific Railroad announced plans to open a network of bulk chemical transloading terminals that will be marketed to non-rail served customers.

UP is converting its Portland, Ore., Santa Fe Springs, Calif., Henderson, Nev., and Rifle, Colo., terminals into TRANSFLO-operated facilities.
The railroad plans to expand the transloading service throughout its network.

"The terminals will further enhance our network by combining
TRANSFLO's safety and quality in transloading and logistics, with the economics and safety of UP's rail service," said Ed Sims, UP vice president and general manager of chemicals, in a prepared statement.
