advertisement
The California Employer Advisory Council (CEAC) recently named Union Pacific Railroad an Employer of the Year for providing outstanding employment services to veterans.
A non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of California's employment services, CEAC nominates employers in three categories: private small business, private large business and government/public service. UP was honored in the private large business category, along with AlliedBarton, Cintas and Northrop Grumman.
The council cited the Class I's leave and re-employment policies for veterans, reservists, National Guard members and other uniformed service personnel; participation in military and veteran job fairs; postings on CalJobs; and veteran hiring practices.
UP previously has been named one of the nation's top military-friendly employers by G.I. Jobs magazine and is an active participant in the U.S. Army's Partnership for Youth Success, or PaYS, employment program.
