He joined UP in 1998 and has held various operating positions in Arkansas, Kansas, Illinois and Louisiana.

UP also named Tom Lischer to succeed McGavock as the Houston unit’s general superintendent of transportation services. He most recently was superintendent of transportation services for the Utah Service Unit. Since joining UP in 1995, Lischer has held various marketing/sales and operating positions.
