UP assigns McGavock, Lischer to general superintendent posts

Union Pacific Railroad has appointed Brian McGavock general superintendent of the Harriman Dispatching Center to succeed Mark Payne, who is retiring after 32 years of service.
Most recently general superintendent of transportation services for the Houston Service Unit, McGavock now will be responsible for train dispatching in the Southern Region — covering Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana — at the Omaha, Neb., Harriman center. He joined UP in 1998 and has held various operating positions in Arkansas, Kansas, Illinois and Louisiana.
UP also named Tom Lischer to succeed McGavock as the Houston unit’s general superintendent of transportation services. He most recently was superintendent of transportation services for the Utah Service Unit. Since joining UP in 1995, Lischer has held various marketing/sales and operating positions.
