Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Union Pacific Railroad recently created three regional public affairs offices and appointed vice presidents for each region to provide more resources to states and communities in the Class I’s network.
UP named Joe Adams, Joe Bateman and Scott Moore VP of public affairs for the southern, northern and western regions, respectively. To be collocated with three existing operating regions, the regional public affairs offices will be responsible for state and community relations, public relations, public partnerships and philanthropic programs.
“This new structure will give UP more representation at a local level to work with communities as well as state governments,” said UP Senior VP of Corporate Relations Bob Turner in a prepared statement.
Most recently the chairman’s special representative for Texas, Adams joined UP in 1978 as an assistant general attorney. Bateman, who most recently served as senior assistant VP of government affairs, joined UP in 1984 as director of government affairs.
Finally, Moore — a former secretary of state for Nebraska — had served as assistant VP and general manager-public partnerships since April 2004. He joined UP in 2000 as director of government affairs.
