Union Pacific Railroad recently presented its 10th annual Chemical Transportation Safety Pinnacle Awards to 19 shippers. The awards recognize chemical and petrochemical shippers’ safety achievements, including safe loading techniques, proper load securement and avoiding non-accidental releases.
Since 1994, non-accidental releases of hazardous materials have declined 47 percent because of shippers’ efforts, UP officials said in a prepared statement.
The 2005 winners are Afton Chemical Corp., Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Bayer Corp., CF Industries Inc., Chevron Oronite Co., DX Terminal Ltd., Enterprise Products Operating L.P., Equistar, Flint Hills, Kerr-McGee, Kinetic Resources, Nexen Chemicals, NOVA Chemicals, Olin Corp., PPG, Shell Chemical, Sunoco Inc., Transammonia Inc. and Wynnewood Refining Co.
