advertisement
On April 14, Union Pacific Railroad plans to begin increasing train speed through Ennis, Texas — the fourth Lone Star State town that'll witness faster trains this month.
The Class I expects to speed up 30 mph trains in 5 mph weekly increments until trains travel 40 mph by April 21.
UP also plans to increase train speed in Midland from 40 mph to 60 mph by April 14; in Abilene, from 30 mph to 60 mph by April 28; and in Grand Saline, from 50 mph to 70 mph by April 14 for freight trains, and from 50 mph to 75 mph by April 21 for Amtrak trains.
The Class I continues to raise train speeds through various southwestern communities after modifying grade-crossing signals.
