Union Pacific Railroad said Tuesday that it plans to relocate its ShipCarsNow subsidiary from Auburn Hills, Mich., to UP's Omaha, Neb., headquarters beginning this month.
The relocation will enable UP and the subsidiary to "leverage common systems in order to strengthen and grow our auto-transport services in the U.S. and international markets," said Julie Krehbiel, UP vice president and general manager-automotive, in a prepared statement.
UP established ShipCarsNow in 2006 to deliver used cars for businesses in the United States and around the world through a multi-modal auto transport network that includes rail transport.
ShipCarsNow will bring 21 jobs to Nebraska, UP said. An additional 12 information technology employees already are assigned in Omaha to support the subsidiary's web technology.
