UP to speed up Texas trains
advertisement
Union Pacific Railroad July 3 announced plans to gradually increase train speed through Weimar, Texas, to 60 mph beginning July 15.
The Class I would boost train speed 5 mph per week, enabling trains to reach the new speed limit by July 29; trains currently move through Weimar at 45 mph.
UP recently modified grade-crossing signals in several communities to increase train speeds, which enables the railroad to operate trains more efficiently and reduce the time motorists wait at crossings.
