UP to speed up trains in Texas town

Union Pacific Railroad will increase train speed through Eagle Pass, Texas, from 40 mph to 49 mph. The Class I will boost speed in 5 mph increments until the new maximum is reached on April 14.

UP recently improved track in the area to accommodate higher train speeds. The change will improve highway traffic flow and grade crossing safety, the railroad said.
