UP tops in Toyota's book for 2000 performance

Union Pacific Railroad March 30 received Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc’s top logistics-service award for the second straight year.
The Toyota President’s Award for Logistics Excellence is based on customer service, and on-time and quality performance.
UP also received Toyota’s Customer Service Award for the third consecutive year, as well as the automaker’s On-Time Performance Award.
"UP continues to demonstrate a commitment to meeting Toyota and Lexus vehicle distribution challenges," said Jim Byers, Toyota vice president logistics services, in a prepared statement.
UP in 2000 moved 580,000 Toyota vehicles originating at auto plants in Fremont and Long Beach, Calif., Georgetown, Ky., Princeton, Ind., Portland, Ore., and Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
