U.S. Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) late last week joined representatives from the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad for a tour of Budde Enterprises Inc.'s facility in Newtown, Kansas.

At the shop, Budde handles a variety of rail-related repair and fabrication work, including repairs on hi-rail vehicles and track equipment.

Estes' group also toured a facility expansion designed to improve efficiency and accommodate a recent merger, according to a press release issued by the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA).

Budde Administration Executive Erin Mosiman led the tour, which included a discussion in support of the 45G short-line tax credit.

"Smart federal policies that encourage investments in our rail network and infrastructure support jobs here in Newton and across our state," Mosiman said.

Other attendees on the tour included Carrie Budde, owner of Budde; Casey Harbour, commercial manager for the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad; Rusty Krehbiel, general manager of Budde Enterprises; and Sean Winkler, REMSA's director of advocacy.
