The U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) recently named Arthur Arfa director of hearings and appeals, according to American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association's bi-monthly newsletter.

Serving RRB since 1973, he will head the Bureau of Hearings and Appeals' review of unfavorable claims determinations.

Arfa most recently served as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel. He previously served as assistant director of hearings and appeals, and assistant to the associate executive director of legal and administrative services.

Arfa is a recipient of RRB's Award for Excellence, which recognizes employees' significant and outstanding service to the railroad public.
