The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Research and Innovative Technology Administration recently awarded $6 million to five universities to conduct research that helps solve national and regional transportation issues.
The administration awarded $2 million to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville National Transportation Research Center; $1.5 million to Texas A&M University; $1 million to Morgan State University; $550,000 to Jackson State University; and $450,000 to the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
The fiscal-year 2007 funding is part of each college’s four-year designation as a USDOT-sponsored University Transportation Center.
