The U.S .Department of Transportation recently released $4.1 million in federal funds for the Binghamton Intermodal Transit Terminal, according to Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.), who helped secure the funds through the transportation appropriations process.
The Federal Highway Administration, state of New York and Broome County also will contribute $5.1 million, $2 million and $1 million, respectively, for the project.
The $12 million intermodal facility will enable passengers to connect from local Binghamton, N.Y., transit services to regional and intercity rail and bus services.
