The U.S. Department of Transportation's (USDOT) Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) is seeking research proposals from small businesses that address high-priority national transportation goals, including rail research.
Specifically, the proposals should provide cost-effective, multi-modal solutions to the nation's most pressing transportation challenges, such as bridge condition monitoring technology and data collection, hazardous materials tracking and incident response, adaptive traffic signal control, and rail, motorcycle and pedestrian safety research, according to RITA. Proposals are due June 3.
The solicitation is first of two planned for 2008 under the Small Business Innovative Research program, which is administered by RITA's Volpe National Transportation Systems Center on behalf of the USDOT's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
