UTA postpones fuel surcharge plans

advertisement

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) recently decided to postpone implementing a 25-cent fuel surcharge from January to June 2006. The surcharge would help the authority recover about $6 million in fuel costs.

Officials need more time to determine the most effective way to collect the surcharge for each one-way trip and from pass holders, according to a UTA statement.

The authority still plans to raise fares 10 cents in January as proposed.
