Updates from AT&T, Invensys Rail, ESW Canada, Greenbrier and Echo Global Logistics

• New Cingular Wireless (AT&T) obtained a contract from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to lease wireless communications infrastructure in the Red and Blue line subways for 10 years. AT&T’s base equipment — including amplifiers, transmitters and receivers — will be installed in the subways during the next several months. Service is expected to begin later this year. CTA previously inked similar contracts with wireless service providers Cricket Communications, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular.

• Invensys Rail has named Christoph Theis business development director for Germany. He will be responsible for helping the rail signaling and control systems provider continue to expand business in the European market. Theis has extensive experience in the German rail industry, including various posts at Deustche Bahn and a stint as an industry consultant.

• Environmental Solutions Worldwide Inc. subsidiary ESW Canada Inc. (ESWC) has obtained orders totaling $266,000 for five XtrmCat™ locomotive diesel oxidation catalysts from Advanced Global Engineering and West Coast Express (TransLink) in Vancouver, British Columbia. The XtrmCat™ is designed to be used on EMD-powered locomotives. ESWC is seeking U.S. Environmental Protection Agency verification of the XtrmCat™ for both locomotive and marine retrofits.

• The Greenbrier Cos. received a strategic investment from WL Ross & Co. L.L.C. As part of the investment, WL Ross has funded a flexible three-year term loan for $75 million. Greenbrier will use loan proceeds to pay down debt and support future growth, including the pursuit of select growth opportunities in conjunction with WL Ross in all areas of present business. In addition, Greenbrier's existing North American revolving credit facility led by Bank of America has been reduced from $290 million to $100 million. The maturity date remains November 2011.

• Transportation management firm Echo Global Logistics Inc. has acquired transportation broker Raytrans Distribution Services Inc., which will begin doing business as Echo Global Logistics.
