• Bombardier Transportation has signed an agreement with Noveko International Inc. to develop air filtration solutions for the rail industry. The companies will jointly develop filtration systems that will be offered to Bombardier’s clients, per their specific needs.

• FreightCar America Inc. reported first-quarter revenue of $19.5 million and a net loss of $3.3 million vs. revenue of $39.6 million and net income of $2.4 million in first-quarter 2009. During the quarter, the company delivered 321 rail cars, including the sale of 105 used cars and the lease of 136 cars, compared with 697 cars delivered in fourth-quarter 2009 and 876 delivered in first-quarter 2009.

• Harsco Corp.’s Harsco Rail unit has received nearly $6 million in orders for the company’s Drone Tamper, a new configuration designed to enable railways to increase track maintenance efficiency and reduce costs.

• NCC Construction Sweden received a $26.3 million contract to expand the rail line between Velanda and Prässebo on the Norway/Vänerbanan line. The project is the third phase of a double-track expansion project.

• Pacer International Inc. reported first-quarter revenue of $363.7 million, up from $358.6 million in Q1 2009. The company earned income of $600,000 compared with a loss of $223.1 million in first-quarter 2009.

• Cattron Group International has launched a new website: www.cattrongroup.com. The newly designed site features improved navigation, enhanced graphics and the ability to download product information for all of Cattron’s brands from one page, according to the company.

• Las Vegas Railway Express Inc. has contracted Transportation Management Services to provide the railroad’s first set of passenger cars for its proposed “X Train” service.

• Michael Baker Corp. recently acquired the LPA Group Inc., a 475-person transportation consulting firm based in Columbia, S.C. The acquisition will expand Michael Baker’s presence in the Southeastern U.S. market and broaden the company’s capabilities in planning, design, program management and construction management, according to a prepared statement.
