• CRSBG-Donovan Manganese Steel Hardening Co. Ltd. has entered into a patent license agreement with UNITRAC Railroad Materials Inc. to operate an explosive depth hardening blast chamber at its headquarters in China. CRSBG-Donovan also has entered into an agreement with Asian Castings and Foundry of North America L.L.C, which will market and distribute its products in North America.

• RailComm has provided a track warrant control (TWC) system to the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad. RailComm’s Domain Operations Controller (DOC) train control system is accessed through a web-enabled software-as-a-service delivery model. This enables Wisconsin and Southern to dispatch trains remotely wherever an internet connection is available.

• Bombardier Transportation has received an order for 40 additional MOVIA metro cars from the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd. The $55 million contract is a follow-on to an original order for 74 vehicles announced in June. The additional vehicles will be delivered by the end of 2011. Bombardier also was contracted with consortium partner Vossloh Kiepe to supply 24 low-floor Bombardier FLEXITY trams for Polish operator Miejskie Przedsiebiorstwo Komunikacyjne SA in Krakow, Poland. Delivery on the $76 million contract is expected to begin in March 2012.

• Surveying and Mapping Inc. (SAM) appointed Mike Hut aerial mapping department manager. He previously served as vice president of customer and technical service for a 2,400-employee geospatial technology and services company.

• LTK Engineering Services named Thomas Furmaniak vice president of business development. Furmaniak worked for LTK in the 1970s; he then held senior management positions with New York City Transit and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and served as chief systemwide engineer for the Athens Metro in Greece before rejoining LTK in 1998. Since then, he has served as VP of the firm’s northwest region based in Portland, Ore., and its southeast region based in Atlanta.

• HDR has received a five-year task order contract for risk analysis services from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). HDR’s first assignment is risk assessment training for project and other key managers at FDOT districts.
