• Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. (EMD) entered into an agency agreement with Egypt’s Aman Trading and Engineering (AT&E) to jointly provide the Egyptian National Railways with service training and technical support for the maintenance and operational personnel for EMD locomotives. The companies also will provide post-delivery spare parts and complete maintenance support. In addition, EMD and AT&E will rebuild and repower older EMD locomotives to provide an additional 25 to 30 years of service, and develop potential locomotive sales and service opportunities in other regional areas, such as Libya and Iraq, according to EMD.

• Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. received a contract from Network Rail to advance the development of a rail infrastructure project at Stockley Flyover in west London. Jacobs will be responsible for the design of a new flyover near the existing layout. Cross-rail services are expected to begin in 2017.

• Efren Alcara was named a supervising engineer in the New York City office of Parsons Brinckerhoff. He will be responsible for the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for the East Side Access project, which calls for extending MTA Long Island Rail Road into Grand Central Terminal.

• Seacastle Chassis has changed its name to TRAC Intermodal. The new name and identity reflect the “evolution of the company’s market strategy in a very dynamic intermodal industry,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Rubin in a prepared statement.

• Based on preliminary figures, DVB Bank SE announced net profit of $78 million for the first half of 2010, down 3.8 percent from the same period in 2009. Total income for the first half was up 1.2 percent at $185 million.

• AngelTrax has expanded its high-resolution, PeriOptic lens TR series camera lineup to include the TR3600WPR and TR3600WPL I 68 certified waterproof camera. The cameras are used by transit authorities to capture mobile video.
