• FreightCar America Inc. recently named Leslie Wood managing director, international sales and strategic sourcing. Wood has 13 years of experience in railroad industry sales and international business development. “He will strengthen the company’s focus in international sales and strategic sourcing, two areas that represent opportunities for growth and cost reduction,” said FreightCar America President and Chief Executive Officer Ed Whalen in a prepared statement.

• Railmark Holdings Inc. has appointed UTEK Engineering L.L.C. as the firm’s “engineer of record,” according to a press release. The appointment will enable Railmark to improve service to Railmark Track Works Inc. customers and offer design-build services, rather than rely on local engineering firms with limited rail design experience, Railmark said. Meanwhile, UTEK will outsource all rail track construction and maintenance for its customers to Railmark Track Works.

• Rogers Corp.’s Power Distributions Systems division has been awarded International Railway Industry Standard certification for its laminated busbar manufacturing facility located in the Suzhou Indusrial Park in Jiangsu Province, China. The building is the first laminated busbar manufacturing facility in China to obtain the certification, according to a press release. In operation since 2004, the 8,000-square-foot facility employs nearly 700 people.
