• GATX Corp. and Wabtec Corp. announced the delivery of an “ultra low-emission" GenSet switcher to GATX’s rail-car repair facility in Colton, Calif. The locomotive was manufactured by Wabtec subsidiary MotivePower Inc. and is expected to “significantly lower emissions and provide cost savings from reduced fuel usage,” according to a prepared statement.

• Parsons Brinckerhoff named Eugene Kim vice president in the Los Angeles office. He will be responsible for managing the company’s L.A. transportation planning practice. Previously Kim was manager for the western region planning group of a New York-based professional services firm.

• TRC Cos. Inc. has received prequalification award agreements in 10 general engineering consulting categories with subsidiaries of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). Through the agreements, TRC is qualified to provide safety, security and environmental engineering services, as well as construction supervision and inspection services to MTA Metro-North Railroad and MTA Long Island Rail Road. Each contract could range from $400,000 to more than $1 million over five years.

• RailInc Corp. announced that Assistant Vice President of Finance Yates Parker was named a winner of the 2010 CFO of the Year Award by Triangle Business Journal. The awards are presented to financial professionals in North Carolina’s Triangle region who "exemplify excellence as corporate financial stewards," according to a prepared statement.
