Updates from GE - Transportation, MISCOR Group and Specialized Rail Transport

• By month's end, GE - Transportation will deliver a China Mainline Locomotive (CML) to Tianjin Port, where the unit will be transported to Beijing, China. The locomotive will be the first of 300 6,000-horsepower Evolution® Series CML units GE will deliver to China's Ministry of Railways under a $450 million contract in conjunction with Qishuyan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Works (QSY). GE plans to ship two fully assembled Evolution® Series locomotives to Beijing. The remaining 298 locomotives will manufactured in the United States as kits or parts and then assembled in China by QSY. GE expects to deliver all kits by 2009's end.

• MISCOR Group Ltd. has named Frank Larkin executive vice president for American Motive Power Inc., which provides locomotive repair and remanufacturing services to the rail industry. He most recently was VP and general manager of locomotive services for Progress Rail Services, a Caterpillar Co. subsidiary. Larkin has more than 30 years of mechanical and operational experience, including management positions at Metro East Industries and Boise Locomotive.

• Specialized Rail Transport (SRT) has named Jason Felix sales and marketing manager. He most recently was sales and marketing manager for a heavy transport and lift company. Felix previously served SRT — which provides rail services for oversize or dimensional loads — in various roles.
