• Miller Felpax has acquired Amfab, which supplies locomotive products and is an authorized provider of OEM locomotive parts. “Amfab is a good strategic fit with solid growth potential,” said Steve Blue, president and chief executive officer of Miller Felpax, in a prepared statement. “We view Amfab as very complementary to our existing locomotive engine and truck component business, and the addition of Amfab products will allow us to better serve our customers.”

• Ohio Castings’ board has approved a plan to restart production at its Alliance, Ohio, plant, according to American Railcar Industries Inc. (ARI). Production at Ohio Castings was suspended temporarily in June 2009 due to weak demand in the new rail-car market. During the past several months, ARI has experienced an increase in new rail-car quotes, orders and backlog.  Ohio Castings is expected to begin shipping castings in the third quarter. ARI is a one-third owner of the company.

• Wabtec Corp. has announced the declaration of a regular quarterly dividend of 1 cent per share payable on May 31 to shareholders of record on May 17.

• The Handheld Group has obtained a contract to supply the Netherland Railways with more than 10,000 Nautiz handhelds, 6,000 of which will be the Nautiz eTicket Pro containing an Arcontia RFID module.
