• New York Air Brake Corp. (NYAB) recently acquired Premtec Inc., a manufacturer of M-601 hose blanks. Premtec has built hose blanks for NYAB for more than 12 years. “Bringing this manufacturing in-house will reduce costs and streamline production,” said NYAB President Paul Morgan in a prepared statement. In other NYAB news: The company received a three-year, $6 million contract to supply Anchor Brake shoes to Canadian Pacific. NYAB’s Anchor Brake shoe products include high- and low-friction composition shoes, as well as tread conditioning shoes.

• Bombardier Transportation will deliver another 22 BOMBARDIER TALENT 2 trains to Deutsche Bahn (DB) AG. The order’s value: $131 million. The number of TALENT 2 trains DB’s ordered to date now totals 120. Starting in December 2011, the trains will operate on lines that connect Frankfurt/Main - GieBen - Treysa/Dillenburg and Frankfurt - GieBen. The fleet comprises six three-car and 16 four-car trains. In February 2007, DB and Bombardier signed a framework agreement for the supply of up to 321 trains.

• RailComm’s Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) train control system was selected to replace the existing centralized traffic control (CTC) office system for the Regional Transportation District of Denver’s Central Corridor. RailComm’s DOC®:CTC is a “next-generation” computer-aided dispatching system used to centrally control the CTC signal system and the overhead catenary system and electrification sub-stations, according to a prepared statement.

• Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) announced the following hires: Mark Briggs, who’ll serve as a vice president/public finance and investment director in the firm’s Orange, Calif., office; and Marilyn Duffey, who’ll serve as a senior planning manager in the San Diego office. Briggs, who has more than 35 years of public- and private-sector development and financial consulting experience, comes to PB from Cherokee Investment Services. Duffy, who has more than 30 years of experience managing environmental assessments for transit projects, most recently worked as a subconsultant to PB on the Central Subway light-rail transit project in San Francisco and the California High-Speed Rail Project.

• Rail Safety Consulting L.L.C. (RSC) received corporate accreditation from the United Kingdom’s Network Rail for providing independent safety assessment services. The accreditation enables RSC staff to propose and provide safety assessment services for European projects, according to a prepared statement.
