• RailComm has provided a wireless remote control yard system at CSX Transportation’s Avon Yard in Indianapolis, Ind. The RailComm Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) system is designed to control all switches individually as well as provide “eNtrance eXit (NX)” routing functionality. In addition, RailComm’s GHz RADiANT™ data radios provide a wireless communications network linking the office with field locations.
• Knorr-Bremse subsidiary Sociedad Española de Frenos, which is based in Getafe, Spain, has formed a joint veture with Icer Brakes. Under the name Icer Rail S.L., the companies will work together to produce organic brake pads and brake shoes for rail vehicles.
• Invensys Rail has received a $72.8 million contract from Network Rail for the Paisley Corridor project in Scotland. The project involves replacing signalling equipment at Shields and Paisley with the company’s WESTLOCK signalling technology, as well as providing triple track between the two locations. The project also includes moving the control area of Paisley Signaling Center to the West of Scotland Signaling Center. The project is expected to take 21 months to complete.
• Prover Technology recently received an order from Canadian Pacific to provide its Prover iLock solution, which is designed to develop and analyze interlocking systems.
• Averitt Express announced it is now providing intermodal services as part of its full-load/volume transportation services package. Averitt will provide intermodal coverage through relationships with Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF Railway Co., Norfolk Southern Railway, CSX Transportation and Florida East Coast Railway.
• Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Vincent Ragucci vice president and strategic pursuit manager-power and water. In his new position, Ragucci will provide guidance regarding state and local government affairs. Previously, Ragucci served as director of state and local government affairs in the Boston office of a major engineering consulting company.
