Wabtec Corp. subsidiary Vapor Rail recently obtained a contract from Bombardier Transportation to design and manufacture door systems for subway cars ordered by Metronet, which operates London Underground Ltd.
Vapor Rail will deliver prototype door systems in 2005, and production doors in 2009 and 2010.
Metronet has ordered 376 cars from Bombardier for its Victoria Line upgrade project. As part of a 30-year public-private partnership, Metronet plans to replace 1,738 subway cars during the next 15 years.
