Vienna, Austria’s Wiener Linien recently ordered 38 light-rail vehicles from a Bombardier Transportation-led joint venture for its U6 line. The contract includes an option for an additional 42 vehicles.
Under its $91 million portion of the $121 million contract, Bombardier will build the low-floor vehicles at its Vienna facilities. Vossloh Kiepe will be responsible for the vehicles’ electrical equipment.
Bombardier plans to deliver the vehicles between late 2006 and mid-2008.
