Virginia rail agency expands online grant application system

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) recently introduced a new version of its Online Grants Administration (OLGA) system, which the department will use during this year’s transit and rail preservation grant application period.

Each year, DRPT seeks applications for grants through OLGA, which manages the volume of applications and enables the agency to process and respond to applications more quickly and accurately, DRPT said.

From Nov. 1, 2006, to Feb. 1, 2007, transit agencies can use OLGA to apply for any transit grant programs; short lines can use the system to apply for Rail Preservation Program grants.

Next year, DRPT expects to offer the OLGA online application process for its other grant programs, including the Rail Enhancement Fund and Rail Industrial Access.
